Advice from Golfview

The following is a copy of a recent post from Golfview neighborhood watch.  It has some good advice and information for all communities to follow.

————————–
In brief: Sometime between late evening on Thursday, 10 November 2011 to early Friday morning, a residence along Fairway Lane in the Golfview community was broken into. The house was accessed through a back door. Fortunately, no one was home at the time. The items (or some of the items) stolen from the residence were later found in an unoccupied car parked by a nearby church.
If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Rockledge Police Department at (321) 690-3988.
————————–
Please note that in the past, around this time of year at the onset of the Holidays, residential crime increased, especially home and vehicular burglaries. With the economy being what it is and has been for the past several years, it is unlikely that the trend will change – some will work hard to plan and steal what you have. Please review what you are doing to safeguard your family, your property and your neighborhood, and work with your neighbors to harden your community as a target against criminal activity (vigilance, communications, inside / outside lighting, garage doors shut, vehicles locked / valuables out of sight, house lock considerations / sliding glass doors double locked, etc …).
Remember, the Rockledge Police Department promotes that “no call is too small“. Don’t be shy, that call just might be the one that keeps you and your neighborhood from being victimized.
* 911
Examples of use: when a crime is in progress or you suspect it is, when you feel threatened, or when you feel the information you need to pass is emergent in nature.
* 690-3988
Examples of use: to report a suspicious observation or when you have that gut feel that something is not right, even if you can’t put your finger on it, request a police patrol to investigate.
* If you aren’t sure, just call; the Police Dispatcher will assist in determining the priority of the information reported.
Please assist your community’s network point of contact with soliciting the this net, asking neighbors to get on the distribution list. Together we do make a difference.
